Living with Our Choices

A pink piece of luggage. Nobody who knows me would ever have imagined me buying such an item. But buy I did. I made the choice to buy it because it was the right size, the right quality, the right price. I chose it for these reasons---never mind that it was not the neon green piece I saw the week before (Alas! out of stock) but Barbie-pink.

So I endured the guffaws from a good friend who picked me up at the airport recently: “Wahahaha!!! Pink!” and my dear brother: “Eeow! What happened?!” I patiently, albeit defensively explained my choice (see above reasons).

But this doesn’t keep me from sighing everytime I look at it, innocently, quietly standing in the corner of my house…a silent reminder of my need to stand by the choices I make.

The worst that could happen is that I’d grow to like it, despite the fact that it is so against the very grain of my personality to go with pink-hued accessories of any sort. (No offense to pink-lovers, “It’s not you …it’s me…”)

The worst that could happen is the persecution I will have to endure from my friends (having already gotten initial, painful feedback, I think I can handle some more).

Whatever the case maybe, I will have to live with it.

Other choices that I may have to live with it in the future might not be as easy this.

In some sense, I thank God for this pink “thing,” at least I am reminded to be careful with my choices in the future, on more serious matters.

….like, maybe, dying my hair pink…!

Oh, I love the minnie mouse pink!

Another good thing is that no one would pick up your pink suitcase from the luggage carousel by mistake. You could also identify it quickly even from afar amidst all the identical pink and dark blue suitcases. I think it's a terrific choice.

I think it's the job of brothers to torture us with their teasing. ;)

No need to worry about getting hit by a speeding truck anymore when you're lugging that bad boy around :D

It's not really that bad since in time, it would gain some darker hue and won't be so pink like that.

But 'pink hair'? Now, that would be just overboard... :-P

Whoa! Whatta Pink! At least it will be easy to spot at the baggage claim.

My friend Sylvia would buy that luggage from you at quadruple the price in a second! I wrote about her in one of my posts. She's a pink lady through and through. She won't be caught dead wearing any other color. You should see what she wears and lugs around!

Finaly got your URL right. Here I am.

I agree with Toe, at least you can easily spot it among the hundreds of luggages... hard to miss a pink luggage. Bakit hindi na lang Hello Kitty yung binili mo? Hehehe :-D

So, you're back in Davao?

Well look at the bright side ... when it rolls in the carousel at the airport ... it just glows ... no way you would miss it.

I won at SM more than a year ago two pieces of luggage ... red. I don't mind red. But I mind that since I won them I had absolutely no opportunity to travel.

Hey, this is like you saying "I do crochet." haha. :) Well, your only consolation is it not getting mistaken by somebody else as his or hers. Palagay ko, there are only two of this kind of bag in the whole world. The other one went to Hello Kitty (*Just wanna make you smile!)

the color would serve it's purpose. don't be bothered with what would other people say. you made ur choice and that's good enough reason why you had that luggage. and besides sometimes it's cool to deviate from what is regular or natural to you.

;)

i can't believe my eyes, its not just the color but the shape too! it looks like the schoolbag of my niece Juleanne Colleen. he he he.

bitaw, dili gyud ni mawala sa carousel sa airport ug murag dali lang pud ni mahugaw.

Sige lang, pag dili na ka gusto aning bag, u can sell it online via the ebay!

Pink is a good color. ;)

why not go overdrive and do the pink nail polish thing too? hehehe... Of course with all the pink accessories to boot.

Hahaha! Amusing post. Still, its one way to attract attention like the pink signs, bridges and crs in the streets. Joke. Hehe

What's important though is that you get to use it and it's fully functional to your need. Or if you still detest it maybe you could sell it to some "legally blonde" girl friends of yours.

Toe, true..true..brothers can be brutally frank..hehe, but we can't help but love them still, can we? ;)

Hoop naman..bad boy?! Sobrang girlette nga eh!!! Hehe...

Major Tom, darker hue meaning madudumihan...huhu..marumi na nga sa hawakan eh, ano kaya pa-jologs ako at i-wrap ko ng plastic yong hawakan? Har har har!

Swipe..so would a neon green luggage, but alas..!!My fate is with pink...

Ate Grace! Thanks for the link...and yeah, I remember that post of yours re friend who isa pink fanatic! :)

Tutubi!! Waaahh!Oo nga no! Buti na lang hindi baby blue yong combo color niya..kundi..nyek!

Snglguy, hello kitty ka jan...little twin stars yata yong pink ang kulay hehe...which reminds me, am a fan of neither, I was more into Charlie Brown and Calvin and Hobbes stuff ;) So you see? Di ko personality ang pink..hehe BTw, m not in Davao..that comment was made two weeks ag when I went home to Davao.:)

Anna, I actually wouldn't mind red! I hope you get to use it soon! Am sure it will also glow on the baggage carousel! hehe...

Beng, hmmm, you'll never know if there is a twon out there--I wouldn't risk it, lalagyan ko pa rin ng ribbon--if only to complete the whole "Legally Blond" and Cher from Clueless-effect! Hehe

Ynon, oo nga no--is always good to try something unpredictable once in a while--but I think I will stop there..no pink hair for me..hehe!

Ipanema! Haha!! Ikaw na mauna!!! Then I will follow suit (with fingers crossed behind my back) ;)

Verns, I think mas "carry" mo tong kulay heheh...attached? Hmm...will see, di pa kami masyadong naka-bonding...

Gigi, hehe, am with you! It does remind me of those school bags of little girls, kulang na lang ug barbie stickers! Hehe...

Karina, objectively, if not associated with me--cute nga siya..;)

WickedlySexy, I also like the shape and the material, tapos yong brand niya "concorde" ay proven ko na, I have another concorde brand luggage, okey pa rin after all these years of beig lugged around.:)

Zherwin, a close friend's 9 year old son comforted me by saying, "Auntie, just wear pink and you will go nicely with your luggage!" Legally blonde nga..sigh!

Nostalgia Manila, yup..I read somewhere that it calms crazy people down..hmm..I wonder what that says about me?! Hmm...

Rey..you first!! Hehe

Ferdz, hehe...MMDA nga ang theme nya no? Hehe, I sometimes wonder what one earth Bayani Fernando is thinking about?!

also just think,
it would be rather hard to nonchalantly steal that from you in an airport baggage claim and get away with it.

Anonymous said...

that's true. sometimes we need to adopt things along the way, no matter how others see it in their own vision.

i can smell a luggage getting checked in the check-in counter very soon.

I'm not fond of pink either, but since my favorite color is crimson red (oh yes, the redder the better), my luggage has that color. It screams. And I could spot it easily on the carousel. :)

Don't worry about the pink too much. With all the traveling you're bound to do with it, it won't be such a "Barbie" pink after a while. Might be good to stock up on stickers for your luggage - if you're into that kind of thing.

What's wrong w/ pink? It's a happy color --a color that reminds us of sweet innocent things that we did and a color that lifts us all the time. I love pink!

Jap said...

Gypsy, your visited links are in Pink! gasp! lol

I think it's a good choice you got pink. Aside from the reasons you mentioned why you got it, the color itself served its purpose...I bet you didn't have a hard time identifying your luggage from the baggage claim area at the airport =)

Yey, I love it. But then again , I'm a pink kind of gal.

At least, you wont miss it when its time to claim it.
