Beautiful Mati

A few months back, I joined a team from my church to a medical and dental outreach conducted in a fishing community somewhere in Mati, Davao Oriental. It was great to be able to extend help to a needy community for two days, this was a real treat--and the fringe benefit was also great: an afternoon in a small uninhabited island across the fishing village. The view was so beautiful that it inspired the 'artist' in me...so below are a couple of my amateur attempts at capturing what I find hard to put into words. :)

Swipe, alas I took these photos from my friends hi-end digicam and so I just got it from him via email, so this is not wallpaper material...by the way did you get my YM? I still would like that photo you took of the moon. :)

I love the clear water.

Wow, definitely wallpaper material. The kind of pictures you wanna put in a travel magazine. How do you get there from Davao city?

Hi Gypsy,

I sent the full moon pic to the email address that you sent. It' might have been blocked by your company's firewall. do you have a webmail address that I can send it to?

Hi Hoop and Abaniko,
Its a across a small fishing village called Taganilao, about one hour' drive from Mati town proper. The island itself is owned by one of the families in that village. :)

Hi Niceheart, Prab and Jen,
Thanks! Good to know my amateur photos are receiving good reviews. Heheh. I think you can take a bus to Mati from Davao. And negotiate with some of the townsfolk on getting there by banca...when we were there, I saw a group docking there for scuba diving and they didnt come from the fishing village we came from.:)

Hey Aleks,

Yep, the possibilities are endless, so need to get the creative juice going! :)

Hi Rhodora
Thanks for dropping by! :) Wow have, like Maldives pala? World-class talaga beaches natin, no? I'm sure there are still a lot of undiscovered bits of paradise in our country...

Serenity is perfectly captured in a lone wooden bench (and a lone banca) with a calm and peaceful blue sea at the background.
