The Passage of Time

Time flies.
Time heals all wounds.
Time waits for no man.
Time’s up.

Time. What a precious, precious commodity. It can be either frighteningly flitting or agonizingly slow.

There are times when I wish I could grab time by it’s tail and will it to stand still or go back, even just for a moment and allow me to restore relationships that have been neglected, change the way I acted on certain occasions and erase regrets, soak in precious moments just a little bit more before it is finally over.

Then reality sets in: time does not stand still, even if at times it seems to. It can be merciless, resolute in moving on for everyone. Leaving us with a trail of memories that are either agonizingly vivid or regrettably hazy.

But time also reproduces itself, giving us a new day, new hopes, new chances, new opportunities—to heal, to reach out, to change, to grab hold of, to enjoy, to be blessed. Mercifully, memories left behind can be hazy for those moments we need to forget so we can move on, and vivid for joys that are refreshing to remember.

As time moves on, I hope to keep in step with it…appreciating the fact that it is precious and that it does bring us nearer to a place where time will no longer matter.

a wise man once told me:

time isn't the problem. it's us. it's how we handle time. it's how we look at it. it's how we overvalue or disvalue time. it's how we overrate or underrate it.

Makes you wonder sometimes why time moves agonizingly slow when you want it to go by really fast, and vice versa. Almost like it's mocking you.

I hope you don't mind me 'snooping' around, btw. :)

"There are times when I wish I could grab time by its tail...."

I know Time has wings ('Time flies...') but a tail?! Hehe. Hey, it's actually kinda nice to think of Time with a tail :)

Hello, Gypsy.

When I hear someone ask the question, if you could turn back time, what would you have done differently? I'd go back in time (in my mind) and I'd try to correct the mistakes I have done. But why mess with time, right? It is from that same mistakes that I learned and made me the person that I am right now.

Nice post. :)

Hi Mayari,
I do agree with you, its us and not time that is the issue here..so hope we do gain wisdom from what time does give us: experience. BTW, sure lets exchange links. :)

Hi Prab,
Thanks for dropping by, snoop away! :)

Hi Aleks, I was going to say robe but dun no why "tail" came out, eeks. I hope I didnt give the impression that I look at time as some "ratty" thing. :)

Hi Niceheart,
You are so right...but stubborn humans that we are, we tend to repeat mistakes! At least, I do...but hopefully not as often...sigh!

If I were to go back in time, I would probably stop myself from taking up accounting. and I'd probably tell myself to stop goofing around in college because it will affect my chances for employment. but I can't. sometimes, it's nice to dream.

Hi Swipe
IF we had the luxury of turning back time, yes it would be nice to some tweaking, either major or minor, of some decisions made in the past. But alas.., not all dreams come true! Good thing there is such a luxury as a second chance. Cheers!
